Euro Sport Front Upper Strut Bar
Strut bars are a favorite suspension upgrade among car enthusiasts everywhere. Euro Sport’s offering for the Mk3 is no different.
Strut bars are important because they help eliminate the roll and twist of the front of the car by tying the front strut towers together. Euro Sport mentions that construction consists of heavy wall 7/8″ and 3/4″ diameter steel tubing and is welded to 1/4″ thick steel mounting plates. This bar is finished in gloss black powder coat.

The bar is supposed to be bolted on with the provided nutzerts, but I didn’t use them. I had some problems drilling the nutzert holes into the strut towers, so I went to my local hardware store and bought a handful of new metric hardware. I sized the bolts so that they fit snugly inside the bar mounting holes. I inserted the bolts from inside the fender area with the threaded end pointed up. That made it easier to tighten the nuts down. Because of where the bar mounts and the fact that I used my own hardware, this piece took longer to install than I had expected. Measure twice and drill once when fitting up your Eurosport front upper strut bar.
The car feels a little tighter when cornering, but its not as noticeable as I would have liked. I’m sure the car’s suspenion geometery is tighter than before, but I can’t say exactly how much without a skidpad and a G-force meter.
Overall, I am happy with this bar. It looks good in the bay, is built with quality in mind and is helping my Mk3 shimmy around corners a little big tighter.
