INTRODUCTION
Midway through the winter of 2007 I bought a set of Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 tires in 195/55/15 flavor from Tire Rack. Up until then, I was driving on Kumho Ecsta ASTs, a supposed “all-season” tire. The fact of the matter was, those all-seasons from Kumho got absolutely no traction in the snow. My car would be sliding all over the place and spinning tires through the gears.

PERFORMANCE
Shortly after mounting the tires I got my first real test run with the new Blizzaks mounted and I loved them! We had about two inches of snow come down and the roads were still fairly well covered the next morning. I was whizzing past other cars on the interstate with no problem at all. This leads me to believe that there are really only two kinds of tires out there: summer and winter. If a company is claiming their tire is an all-season tire, that basically means it covers all of the seasons if you live in California where they don’t get any snow in the winter. ;)

RECOMMENDATIONS
If you’re looking for a good set of tires to battle through the winter with, I definitely recommend the Bridgestone Blizzaks. Tire Rack had them for a great price too, as this is now a discontinued model and a new set has been released as the replacement.
