I was wondering about the best way to do an exhaust mod on my 99 WE jetta. i'm trying to get an actual sound but a good one. i've heard about the suitcase muffler deletion. Or should i buy an aftermarket rear muffler with dual tips. i'm on a tight budget so any advice would be much appreciated. _________________ 1995 jetta 40th

i would delete your resonator. idk if emissions is a problem where you live but i would delete your catalytic converter. and go straight pipe into a Magnaflow muffler or a Borla Turbo exhaust.
i looked online and listened to peoples exhausts and found out what they used and duplicated it. i got no resonator with stainless steel pipes into a magnaflow muffler..but my car is a VR6 so it sounds good no matter what! _________________ -------Blue 98 Jetta VR6--------

i live in NY. deleting the cat would give me a lot of problems unless i hooked it up every inspection. but i think i will get rid of the resonator and pick up a decent muffler. i think all i need is a couple 45 deg pipe and a length of straight correct me if i am wrong. it's coming to winter now so i'm not going all out at the moment as this is my daily. thanks for the input though. i thought the site was dead. i haven't seen many new updates or posts _________________ 1995 jetta 40th

Magnaflow has a dual tip stainless exhaust that sounds GREAT, and once i got the old exhuast off it litteraly bolted up in 15-20 minutes. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
If you want to go cheaper and quieter i would recomen the Exhaust system that pacesetter makes, it bolted up nice and had a nice but quieter tone. I would tell them to keep thier 5inch tip though......Not on my dub _________________ Find it or Grind IT! |
