Got another email from Dimitri today:
Yo Mike,
goddamn man !!!!!!
I went to the postoffice and they told us that the box is too big for them for sending it !!!
They said us about another postoffice a bit further..
There we were told just the same !!!! (I was getting angry at that time)
After that we drove home and called about 10 different companies
Their answers:
- too big !
- costs 525 - 550 euro (for sending the bumper !!!!!)I asked a friend of mine for another solution for the box
(he knows someone who is working for a shipping company in the harbor of Antwerp)
I hope this will have more succes !!!!And my friend in the worst case (I hate to write this believe me !!!) I will send money to you for buying another bumper!
I hope it still will work. Can’t believe that the postoffices or packagecompanies ask that kind of prices !!!!
It’s totally nuts !!!
When I sent the bumper to Belgium, it was just below the largest specified size for the USPS to ship it. Now, when Dimitri is trying to send the same package back to the US, it’s too big. How does that even happen? It wasn’t too big to accept it, but it’s too big to ship? I just really hope he can find another solution for getting the bumper over here. I’ve waited too long and gone through too much not to get this Vento bumper.
BTW, here is the Vento currently. Sitting in the parking lot being emo with no front bumper and a Euro rebar…

Haha I should take a pic of my car at the moment too - front bumper-less and a stripped rear bumper with sanding marks. Looks absolutely “rat”.
That’s shocking to hear about your Vento bumper situation. If his mate’s shipping company still won’t do it, you could possibly ask him if he knows anyone that ships containers to America. The VW wrecker I know has done it before and has shipped multiple ABF 16V engines + gearboxes that way from the UK, and a bunch of other parts. One issue though is to have the receiver in America to send it out to you, so you’ll end up with a middle man in there. However, cost may mount to the point where having Dimitri ship it out for 500Euros would be just about the same.
Oh well, this just isn’t a lifestyle without its mishaps and all.

Dude, she’s looking all sad and chinless.
OR, taking inspiration from the bike scene you could be starting the streetfighter look in dubs.
AWESOME!!

The streetfighter look…I think I like it. lol. Besides, I haven’t even posted pictures of what I did to my hood yet. It adds to the urban soldier look even more….
I’ve almost forgotten what my car looked like WITH a bumper on. Hopefully all will be resolved soon. Dimitri still has a few contacts to check into about shipping.
