I bought access to Dubmodder
You may recall my post about Dubmodder moving to a pay-only model back at the beginning of June. I wasn’t entirely happy about the decision, but supposed if they are to turn their business into a successful venture they needed to find a way to monetize their audience. I would this new revenue stream will lead to further development of their current product as well as expansion and rennovations. Today I finally broke down and paid the $11.95 for a year’s worth of access to the program.
To my disappointment, the Mk3 platform is still the same as before. The parts are still limited and the graphics are unchanged. In comparison to the other generations available to modify, I would venture to say that the Mk3 platform is the most primitive. However, looking at the official 2007-2008 list of options that will be introduced in Dubmodder, the Mk3 is slated for the following new features:
All-new graphics for the MK3 platform!
New model: Cabriolet
New colors: Mulberry, Surf Green & Porcelain Blue
Body styling: shaved foglight/turn signals, shaved
door handles, shaved rubstrips.
New option: 4-door model (hatchback)
Wheels: many new Euro wheels
I’ll be excited to see what they have in store for the Mk3. I really liked Dubmodder when I first discovered it, but the limited breadth of the Mk3 options kind of turned me away. I hope that I am blown away when I log in one day to find the Mk3 platform equipped with new graphics and options. I’ll be keeping my eye on you Dubmodder.

Mate, you gave in! I kind of miss using Dubmodder when I’m bored… blah, I’ll just have to get better at Photoshop!
Out of curiousity, since Dubmodder is now a pay-to-play thing, would it be illegal to take snapshots and displaying them?

No, I don’t think there’s any reason why it would be illegal to post up screenshots of Dubmodder cars. They actually encourage you to post your creations and show them off. I spent a few hours yesterday just tinkering around with it and trying out all of the different models.
It is a lot of fun, especially because it is so easy, but I’m anxious to see it with all of the new changes they have planned.
