We are now an official Volkswagen family…

Posted on 28 August 2007

Tonight my wife and I inked a deal on a Reflex Silver 2001 Volkswagen Beetle GLS for her. We have been talking about getting her a newer car for quite some time, and this Beetle just happened to be available for the right price at the right time. The Beetle has an automatic 2.0 8v motor, 16″ Volkswagen wheels, heated seats, leather interior, sunroof and non-functional cruise control (what VW doesn’t? :D)

She absolutely loves the car and I must agree that it’s fun to drive. Tonight we added silver Projekt German decals to the rear side windows, the car’s first mod! (Well, besides the air freshener she bought, lol.) I’ve already started digging into some New Beetle websites like NewBeetle.org in search of mods and ideas from other people are doing. I did manage to find a really slick Cyber Green Beetle built by a guy who goes by SMG on NewBeetle.org. He also has the 2.0 motor, though he’s strapped on a Neuspeed supercharger and is pushing roughly 130hp to the wheels, a decent gain over the 93whp the car had stock.

That’s it for tonight, but now I’ve got to keep the blog up to date on TWO Volkswagens. ;)
