Tired

Posted on 30 May 2007

Haven’t updated the blog for awhile, but I have plenty of topics to fill in when I get a few more minutes. My aunt and uncle stayed over last night because they are taking their daughter to Disney World. Their flight left out of Des Moines this morning at 6AM so we took them down [...]

Projekt German Tint and Tattoo GTG

Posted on 19 May 2007

May 19th marked the long-awaited date of the Projekt German Tint and Tattoo GTG. It had been planned out for months and was expected to be one of the largest PKG GTGs to date. The two events for the day included cars getting windows tinted at R&T Performance Glass and tattoos being inked at Blvd [...]

The car was unveiled to the public at the Worthersee event in Austria. I still can’t believe my eyes.

VW claims a top speed of 202 mph

Oil Changes

Posted on 17 May 2007

I took the Vento in to the dealership for an oil change today. $40. A lot of people give me flack for having the dealership change the oil, but to me, it’s worth it. I would rather give up $40 than get the car up on stands, find a good filter wrench, change the oil, [...]

FK Automotive

Posted on 15 May 2007

These guys rock. Here’s why:

They make solid, quality products.
They’re based in Germany.
They print a huge catalog of parts to drool over.
They have their own FK Girls…also to drool over.

I got my cup kit from FK and I couldn’t be happier. My front bumper air ducts also came from FK and seem to be of utmost [...]

Get Low…

Posted on 14 May 2007

Yesterday afternoon (Sunday) I washed the car and got out to take some good photos.

Overall I LOVE the new suspension. I would recommend it to anyone. Get your FK 60/40 Cup Kit from AMI Motorsports.

FK 60/40 Cup Kit

Posted on 11 May 2007

Well, I officially have zero patience and restraint when it comes to cars. My cup kit and bushings showed up yesterday after ordering everything on Monday and I just couldn’t wait to install them. Stef and I went out to the garage around 10pm and finished everything up about 1:30am. Not too bad for my [...]

Tools!

Posted on 09 May 2007

I bought some new tools tonight for the suspension install, but I still think I’m going to need to borrow my friend’s impact wrench. For one, the offset metric box wrenches I bought won’t work, and two, I tried using another wrench plus the allen socket on the top nut and it wouldn’t even budge. [...]

Researching Strut Mounts

Posted on 07 May 2007

After doing some research, it sounds like replacing the strut mounts on my car is a must when I do the suspension. Apparently, even Volkswagen admits that they are a 60,000 mile item. I ended up going to the best online shop for OEM parts, German Auto Parts, and ordered new heavy duty strut mounts [...]

Ordered New Suspension

Posted on 07 May 2007

…about 5 minutes ago.
I bought the FK HighTek 60/40 Cup Kit from AMI Motorsports for $520 shipped. He said it should arrive in 4-5 business days. If it gets here by this weekend I may install it on Sunday.
60mm = 2.4″ drop in the front
40mm = 1.6″ drop in the rear
This gives the [...]
