Stereo Install and Heat Shield Death

Posted on 16 December 2006

I got together with Loccusst and Hendo from Projekt German last night at Loccusst’s place in Urbandale to work on cars. We got my CD player installed thanks to the amazing skills of my MECP friends, even after running into a few problems with the wiring. All is good with the stereo though.

Once we had the stereo installed we sat down for some chicken and mashed potatoes while watching a BTCC race on Loccusst’s HUGE tv. I’d never seen one before, so it was pretty cool to watch. Speed channel needs to revise their schedule so this stuff is on when I’m home.

When the race was over we headed back out to the garage to “remove” my rattling exhaust heatshield. What should have been a simple six bolt removal turned into a yelling, twisting, maiming rage of heat shield destruction. I’m waiting for Loccusst to send me the pictures he took.

After we finished destroying my manifold heat shield, we did some VAG-COM tuning on Hendo’s car. It’s pretty cool how many different things you can change in the way the car operates with that tool. It even had data-logging and real-time graphing capabilities, which was really neat.

But anyways, big thanks to Loccusst and Hendo for helping (read: installing) my CD player. They are both pretty awesome guys.
